This study used a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental method to examine the effects of emotional intelligence training on mental health. Students with learning disabilities (dyslexia) that submitted in Learning Disabilities Treatment Center of Special Education Organization consists the study population from which 30 male students (between 11 to 13) selected as available sample and after pretest randomly divided into two equal groups (experimental (15) and control groups(15)). The data was collected by Youth self-report (YSR) and Suhutte Self-Report Inventory (SSRI) questionnaires. Then, over a six week period, the experimental group participated in 12 sessions of emotional intelligence training based on theoretical pattern of Bar- on (1997). The previous test was administered for second time at the end of training sessions. The results of the t- test indicated that the emotional intelligence in the experimental group was significantly higher than those of control group. Also internalizing problems in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of control group. It can be included that emotional intelligence training can increase the emotional intelligence and decrease internalizing problems.
