Imām ʿĪsā ( al-Shaykh Imām Muḥammad Aḥmad ʿĪsā) (1918-95) was an Egyptian composer and singer best known as the artistic partner of the poet Aḥmad Fuʾād Nigm (1929-2013). Born in the village of Abū Numrus in Giza, outside Cairo, he was blinded by illness as an infant. After Qurʾān schooling in his village, as a young teenager he went to Cairo to receive training as a Qurʾān reciter, a common profession for blind Muslim men at that time.
